The German telecommunications giant is tying up with the religious counseling and spiritual guidance service that is operated by the country's Protestant and Catholic churches.

The routing system will make it possible for local calls to the hotline to be made free of charge by using the T-Mobile network. Callers will be connected to the nearest counseling office.

Deutsche Telekom said that 70 percent of calls made to the center are currently made from cell phones.

"Our support for the crisis hotline is an expression of our social commitment to public welfare. We want to use our innovative know-how to make a contribution to greater social justice and solidarity in a way that transcends strictly business activities," said Kai-Uwe Ricke, chairman of the company's board. He presented the mobile routing agreement to Chairman of the Protestant Conference for the Crisis Counseling Service and Open Door e.V., Superintendent Dieter Schütte and Director of the Pastoral Division of the Secretariat of the German Bishops' Conference Father Manfred Entrich.
