KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Telekom Malaysia and other Malaysian companies plan to double investments in Sri Lanka's telecom sector this year.
Malaysia's Bernama news service said Monday that Telekom would account for about three-quarters of the anticipated $200 million Malaysia will pump into Sri Lankan telecoms this year.

Malaysian telecom investment in Sri Lanka totaled about $100 million in 2005.
The news agency said the 2006 investment plans focus largely on expansion of networks, services and facilities. Malaysian company Tritel plans to invest $40 million in Sri Lanka's payphone network.
