Bangladesh approves wireless-tap law

DHAKAR, Bangladesh, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Bangladesh has amended its telecommunications law to allow increased eavesdropping on cell phones as an anti-crime and counter-terrorism measure.

The Cabinet Monday approved the changes that were proposed by President Iajuddin Ahmed as a means of cracking down on the use of mobile phones by criminal gangs, including militants responsible for recent bomb attacks.
