Alltel names Massey as general counsel

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Alltel Wednesday appointed Richard Massey as its general counsel.

Since 2000 Massey had been a managing director at Stephens Inc., also of Little Rock, Ark., and headed its information and communications practice.

Massey will succeed Francis Frantz, who will be chairman of the board of directors for the new company Alltel's wireline business is forming after a merger with VALOR Communications Group earlier this month.

Massey will be taking over once Frantz completes the carrier's regulatory and financial filings for 2005.
