ATLANTA, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Lucent Technologies said Tuesday it will be providing part of BellSouth's Voice over Internet Protocol platform.
Specifically, Lucent will be providing the Internet protocol multimedia subsystem solution, which includes network integration and technical support that will act as the base of BellSouth's VoIP service for its residential subscribers.
"BellSouth's new consumer VoIP capability is a critical component leading to a comprehensive experience that integrates voice, data, and video in a way that best meets the needs of the individual customer," Bill Smith, chief technology officer at BellSouth, said in a news release.
