Siemens wins contract from Thailand's AIS

MUNICH, Germany, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Siemens said Friday it will expand the global system for the mobile communications network of Thailand's Advanced Info Service.

The German electronics group said it won a contract to extend AIS's GSM radio network, and the Thai company hopes to add up to 1 million new subscribers to its mobile communication services. AIS currently has about 50 percent of the market share in Thailand with 15 million subscribers.

Siemens has been supplying AIS with GSM networks since 1995.
