Vodafone buys 10 percent of India's BTVL

LONDON, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Vodafone said Friday it has bought 10 percent of total shares in India's Bharti Tele-Ventures.

The British mobile-phone group's Chief Executive Arun Sarin said in a news release, "Together we will take this venture to a new level as a clear leader in this market. ... This transaction is consistent with Vodafone's strategy of developing our global footprint in growth markets, where we can create value for shareholders."

Bharti Tele-Ventures is one of the biggest mobile operators in India.
