Verizon starts Spanish TV programs

NEW YORK, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Verizon said Monday it will broadcast Spanish programs on its television network.

The phone group said it will have 12 Spanish language channels on its FiOS TV, including De Pelicula, De Pelicula Clasico and Telehit, broadcast by TuTv, a joint venture between Grupo Televisa and Univision.

"We are pleased to offer these unique and diverse channels on FiOS TV to address the specific entertainment interests of the Hispanic community," Terry Denson, vice president of programming and marketing for FiOS TV said in a news release. "FiOS TV's Spanish Language Package and La Conexion Package will provide the fastest growing demographic group in the U.S. with exceptional choices of popular in-language channels, plus many newer networks and English-speaking networks that appeal to this audience."
