LOS ANGELES, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- LegalZoom.com announced Tuesday the appointment of Michael Turner as senior vice president of marketing.

In the newly created position Turner will be responsible for increasing both online and offline marketing activities at the rapidly growing self-help legal-document company.

"Mike's hiring as senior vice president of marketing was necessitated by the unprecedented growth LegalZoom has experienced over the last five years as consumers are looking for alternatives to high priced lawyers to create important legal documents such as living wills, last will and testaments and small business formations," said Brian Liu, co-founder and CEO of LegalZoom.com.

He added, "As LegalZoom enters a new stage of growth, his experience in establishing and implementing e-business marketing programs will be invaluable in expanding our customer base."

According to a statement from LegalZoom, Turner brings an extensive background in direct marketing, with specialized expertise in catalog, Internet, direct mail and email outreach for online companies across the country. He comes to LegalZoom from Teleflora, the large leading floral services and product company, where he served as executive vice president of consumer & Internet. Turner launched the company's direct-to-consumer Web site, Teleflora.com, and established customer-loyalty programs and turnkey e-commerce service offerings, growing the number of member florists from 800 to more than 12,000.

"There is a great opportunity with LegalZoom.com to be part of a company that is creating a new market segment for the preparation of legal documents and making them available to everyone," said Turner. "I am looking forward to helping LegalZoom reach its marketing objectives and to continue to build profitable business units as we expand our service offerings."
