AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- A detailed study of European mental health services has been published by an Amsterdam firm in advance of Monday's observance of World Mental Health Day.
The study, entitled "The Size and Burden of Mental Disorders in Europe", is the report of a task force commissioned by the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology and the European Brain Council. It has been released by Elsevier, a publisher of scientific, technical and health information.
The report, detailing critical findings on the state of mental health in Europe, will appear in a special issue of the journal European Neuropsychopharmacology. The report will also be discussed during the 18th ECNP Congress Oct. 22-26 in Amsterdam.
Some scientists predict the study's findings will have a significant impact on Europe's mental health research, care and policy issues.
