NEW DELHI, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Chinese mobile-phone manufacturer Bird is considering opening a factory in India as it aims to increase market share on the subcontinent.
India's Info-Tech reports that Bird has set up an Indian subsidiary called Ningbo Bird Sales handling both software development and, possibly, manufacturing.

Info-Tech said Bird, China's largest mobile-phone manufacturer, has a goal of capturing 5 percent of India's mobile market.
Company officials said it was exploring ventures with service providers to offer Bird's line of low-cost cell phones and also with IT companies that would provide software.
