Japan, India meet on telecom future

TOKYO, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Ministerial talks between India and Japan on telecommunications technology will be held later this month.

The Yomiuri Shimbun said this week that Japanese Internal Affairs and Communications minister Taro Aso will meet with Indian counterpart Shri Dayanidhi Maran to discuss broadband Internet and cell phones.

Japan is also setting up a working group of government officials, business executives and academics and will send a trade mission led by Matsushita Electric Industrial Chairman Yoichi Morishita later this year.
