Cingular hailed by Hispanic Magazine

ATLANTA, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Cingular Wireless has been recognized by Hispanic Magazine as one of the top 100 companies in Hispanic diversity initiatives.

The magazine's Corporate 100 list recognizes companies from different fields for promoting the advancement of Hispanics through diversity training, recruitment, minority business initiatives and ethnic representation on boards.

Cingular said in a release that the company is committed to minority business initiatives. The company recently hired Roberto Garcia as executive director of hispanic marketing to strengthen its reach to this market segment. According to the company, Cingular is the No. 1 provider of cellular service to the Hispanic market segment and has put in place numerous marketing and communications initiatives to ensure it continues to be the preferred provider of the Hispanic community.

Cingular added that its leadership in the specific area of Hispanic diversity also has been recognized by the magazines Latina Style and Diversity Inc., which listed Cingular in their top 50 lists. The company was also named the 2005 Employer of Choice by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association for ensuring diversity not only in its legal ranks but also in those of the legal firms that work in its cases.
