Pantech's new phone operates over SK Telecom

SEOUL, July 21 (UPI) -- Pantech Group, Korea's second-largest mobile-phone manufacturer, has introduced a smart phone that provides Internet access through SK Telecom.

Pantech phone model PH-S8000T is the company's first unit to operate through SK Telecom, Korea's largest wireless operator, the Korea Times reported.

"SK Telecom has hesitated opening its mobile network since it hoped to squeeze margins by not doing so. It was a special benefit for Pantech to open its mobile network for PH-S8000T users of Pantech," said Stan Jung, an analyst with Woori Securities.
