Priceline launches collaborative planner

NORWALK, Conn., July 12 (UPI) -- Priceline's MYTravelGuide.com introduced the first Web-based collaborative trip planner Tuesday.

The new service allows friends and associates to create private online discussions where they can research hotels and other travel necessities in one central location. The site maintains information on more than 450,000 restaurants and 60,000 hotels in 30,000 cities.

"MYTravelGuide's collaborative trip planning feature uses Internet technology to simplify the challenging task of travel planning for a group of friends," MYTravelGuide General Manager Matt Solomon said in a news release.

"Typically, planning would require multiple, time-consuming e-mails, instant messages or conference calls, often without the benefit of having specific hotel and other vital information in front of all participants," Solomon said. "With MYTravelGuide's collaborative planner, one member of the group identifies a possible hotel for the trip and e-mails the other travelers a custom-generated MYTravelGuide URL containing the hotel information and a private comment board available only to that group. ... Using the private URL, group members can read hotel reviews, check restaurants and attractions and plan their trip."
