TOKYO, April 11 (UPI) -- Japan's education ministry said Monday it would step up efforts to recruit more female and foreign researchers.
Currently, there are about 88,000 female researchers in Japan in both the sciences and the arts, making up about 11 percent of the total academic community.
That is the lowest rate among industrialized nations, the government said.
