GLASGOW, Scotland, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- One in 20 teenage girls in Scotland likes her body, while most think they're fat and ugly, it was reported Wednesday.
Furthermore, the girls get depressed at "perfect-looking" celebrities, said the Bliss magazine study reported by the Glasgow Daily Record.
More than half of the girls surveyed, who were an average age of 14, had tried dieting at least four times.
Almost all said they would be happier if they could change their shape.
Bliss described the results as a "21st century tragedy."
"The endless parade of thin, yet curvy, surgically enhanced celebrities has made young girls obsessed with their own normal, lumpy, bumpy bodies," said editor Chantelle Horton.
"They also feel tremendous pressure from boys, who increasingly expect their girlfriends to resemble the perfect celebrity body model they've been fed on by a looks-obsessed society."
