
WASHINGTON, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- The National Committee for Quality Assurance identified the highest quality Medicare and Medicaid health plans in the United States Wednesday.
The committee is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. It accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations. The federal government and more than 30 states recognize the committee's accreditation to satisfy state or federal licensure requirements.
Medicaid's Top 10, listed alphabetically, are BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York; BlueShield of Northeastern New York; Rhode Island's Coordinated Health Partners (dba Blue CHiP); Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Rochester Region; Michigan's HealthPlus; Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Hawaii; Michigan's M-CARE; Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island; Michigan's Priority Health and Pennsylvania's UPMC Health Plan.
Medicare's Top 10, listed alphabetically, are Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts; Florida's Capital Health Plan; New York's Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Rochester Region; Massachusetts' Fallon Community Health Plan; Massachusetts' Harvard Pilgrim Health Care; Minnesota's HealthPartners; Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado; Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic; Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Hawaii; Pennsylvania's Keystone Health Plan Central; and New York's Rochester Area Health Maintenance Organization (dba Preferred Care).
