Baxter pulls flu vaccine from British test

LONDON, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Baxter International has pulled its flu vaccine from a clinical trial in Britain because of side effects.

Baxter, of Deerfield, Ill., said Thursday use of its PreFluCel vaccine had turned up a higher than expected rate of mild fever and associated symptoms in the clinical trial participants.

Further clinical studies planned for 2005 were put on hold while the company continued to analyze the data from the British trial.
