New theory addresses frozen Earth paradox
WASHINGTON, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- U.S. Food and Drug Administration chief Mark McClellan is tipped to oversee implementation of Medicare reform programs, the White House said Friday.
Spokesman Scott McClellan, brother of the FDA commissioner, said President George W. Bush would announce the nomination.
Mark McClellan, a physician, took over the FDA last November.
The White House said he has unique experience in dealing with Medicare and Medicaid issues.
His nomination as head of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services, requires Senate confirmation.
Congress last December passed Bush's Medicare reform proposals, which include prescription drug benefits for seniors.
