NASA space station parts backlogged

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., June 21 (UPI) -- A warehouse in Cape Canaveral is crowded with backlogged components for the International Space Station because all delivery flights have been put on hold.

Plans made before the Columbia disaster have been delayed because NASA is more concerned with getting shuttles back into space before the station runs out of water, Discovery News reported.

The newest piece of the station arrived in Florida Wednesday and was relegated to the warehouse with all the other waiting parts, Discovery News said.

The same day though, the space got a boost from the company that is selling tourist space jaunts.

Space Adventures lifted its self-imposed moratorium on selling space rides aboard Russian Soyuz rockets, Discovery said.

The Virginia-based company stopped its program after the Columbia on Feb. 1. Space Adventures says it will not proceed with its plans to sent two space tourists up in 2005 for $20 million each.
