Stroke drug prevents brain damage

TORONTO, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Using part of the virus that causes AIDS, Canadian researchers said Thursday they might have found a drug that will prevent brain damage due to stroke. In animal tests, the drug prevented up to 90 per cent of such damage without causing serious side-effects, they said.
