Astronomers find icy world beyond Pluto

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- An icy world half the size of Pluto lies 4 billion miles from the sun, astronomers said Monday. The discovery of the object -- which is being called Quaoar ("KWAH-o-ar") after a native American word for creative force -- in the Kuiper Belt region beyond Neptune revives debate about Pluto's status as a planet.
