Breast self-exam programs questioned

BETHESDA, Md., Oct. 1 (UPI) -- A 10-year study of a quarter-million Chinese women has concluded that women who receive intense instruction in breast self-examination are just as likely to die of breast cancer as women who do not receive any instruction. However, the lead investigator said the study's conclusions might not apply to women who are highly motivated to examine themselves.
