Memory lapses may portend mental decline

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- In the first such study, experts on aging, memory and learning have collected strong scientific evidence people aware of increasing forgetfulness are at higher risk of future memory decline that can advance to Alzheimer's disease. The neurodegenerative disorder affects some 18 million humans, a figure expected to nearly double to 34 million by 2025 as the world's population continues to age.
