Seoul introduces controversial drug policy

SEOUL, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Despite possible trade conflicts with the United States, South Korea has decided to go ahead with a controversial new drug pricing system aimed at reducing the use of expensive imported drugs, officials said Friday. Seoul has pushed for a pricing system that would set an upper limit on government contributions to the cost of expensive drugs, with patients required to pay additional amounts.
