Bionic eye gives hope to the blind

SYDNEY, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- A team of Australian researchers has announced they are developing a bionic eye that could return sight to blind people with hereditary degenerative diseases of the retina. The advance could do for blind people what cochlear implants have done for the profoundly deaf, researchers said.
