Obesity drug found to lower diabetes risk

SAO PAULO, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- A four-year study has found the obesity drug Xenical appears to at least delay diabetes among obese patients at risk of developing the disease, researchers reported Monday at the 9th International Congress on Obesity. Also known as orlistat, by Roche, the drug together with lifestyle management appeared to cut in half the risk of diabetes in obese patients who had impaired glucose tolerance.
