Homeland security amendments add R&D

WASHINGTON, July 10 (UPI) -- The House Science Committee left its stamp on the proposed Homeland Security Department on Wednesday, altering the agency's authorizing legislation in order to strengthen its scientific underpinnings. The main revision would appoint a single undersecretary for science and technology, as opposed to scattered positions in the original bill.
