AMA gives nod to study paying for organs

CHIAGO, Ill., June 18 (UPI) -- The American Medical Association's House of Delegates voted Tuesday to encourage a study of pilot programs that pay financial incentives to survivors who allow dead relatives' organs to be donated for transplantation. The emotional debate during the annual meeting of the AMA pitted ethical concerns over the rights of patients dying while on organ waiting lists.
