Rookie settles in for long spaceflight

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., June 14 (UPI) -- NASA abandoned its long-term practice of not sending rookie astronauts for long stays in space when it came to assigning biochemist Peggy Whitson for her first mission. The 42-year-old astronaut will be the only American aboard the space station when shuttle Endeavour departs on Saturday.
