Unusual solar eclipse late Monday

Across much of North America, a strange-looking crescent will be visible late Monday when the moon passes in front of the sun and creates a partial solar eclipse. Even with its brightness diminished, astronomers warn against looking directly at the sun or observing it with an unfiltered optical instrument.
