Radiation illness unlikely from dirty bomb

WASHINGTON, June 10 (UPI) -- The potential for a bomb contaminated with radioactive materials -- a so-called "dirty bomb" -- arose Monday with the arrest of a man suspected of planning to detonate such a bomb in the United States. But terrorism and public health experts told United Press International the health implications and potential casualties resulting from such an incident are uncertain. Also, the number of people who potentially could be affected by radiation and the extent of injuries is likely to be minor, but both are difficult to predict, experts said.
