Critics: New FBI rules allow data snooping

WASHINGTON, May 30 (UPI) -- Revised guidelines for FBI investigations would allow the agency to use sophisticated data search techniques to "mine" commercially collected data for signs of suspect activity, whether or not there is suspicion of a crime, privacy experts charged Thursday. The changes also would further overload the agency with data, they said, and could target people who had done nothing wrong.
