ARLINGTON, Va., May 1 (UPI) -- Research underway at federally funded nanotechnology centers, where academic and industry scientists explore manipulating matter at the atomic scale, might help today's computer chips avoid developmental dead ends, said speakers at a conference Wednesday. Nanostructures' minuscule dimensions and unique electrical properties will enhance but not replace silicon, they said.
