Environmental prizes awarded

SAN FRANCIS, Calif., April 20 (UPI) -- Eight grassroots environmentalists from around the world, including a record five women, were awarded the 13th annual Goldman Environmental Prize on Monday. The recipients of the $125,000 award include three tribal leaders opposing oil drilling in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, a conservationist working to save the family farm in Poland and an ecologist trying to restore the coastal ecosystems of Thailand.
