Group calls for less wasteful fishing

WASHINGTON, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Oceana, a new international group dedicated to protecting the world's oceans from destructive fishing and pollution, launched a campaign Thursday in Washington to reduce "bycatch" -- the 25 percent of all fish catch thrown overboard. "Bycatch amounts to 44 billion pounds of fish each year," said Steve Roady, president of Oceana.
