'Birdbrain' insult no longer

BOSTON, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Birds show evidence of complex cognitive tasks -- including using sounds to communicate -- that in some ways match humans. "These animals are much more intelligent than we thought," said Irene Pepperberg of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Brandeis University, speaking Thursday at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
