Failed stroke drugs may be winners

SAN ANTONIO, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Stroke researchers spent millions of dollars on studies of drugs that were supposed to limit the brain damage caused by stroke but could not produce positive findings. New research presented Thursday at the American Stroke Association's International Stroke Conference finds those millions may pay off after all and two of the failed drugs --citicoline and magnesium sulfate -- may be winners.
