World's fresh water faces growing threats

OAKLAND, Calif., Jan. 19 (UPI) -- A report funded by the United Nations points to unprecedented threats to the world's scarce sources of fresh water, including loss of wetlands and ecosystems and global climate changes. The consequences include up to 27,000 deaths a day from water-related diseases, the study says.
