Crystals help reconstruct ancient oceans

Tiny droplets of seawater trapped in ancient salt crystals may shed light on more than 500 million years of evolution and global climate, geologists report. In the process, these findings may overturn the long-held belief among scientists that ocean chemistry has remained unchanged for a half-billion years.
