Long recovery from mass extinction seen

WASHINGTON, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Letters containing a white powdery substance sent to media in India were tested for anthrax Monday while other countries took steps to prevent the transmission of the bacteria through the mail. Police in India said the offices of CNN, the Associated Press and the newspaper Himalayan Mail in the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir received suspicious envelopes.
