NEW YORK, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Former MVP and current Los Angeles Dodgers Manager Joe Torre is among 10 retired players making a bid this year for the Baseball Hall of Fame.

NASHVILLE, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Former commissioner Bowie Kuhn was among five men elected Monday to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee.

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Former Chicago Cub Ron Santo came closest but for the third consecutive time the Veterans Committee didn't elect any ex-player to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
