Tropical Storm Claudette Forms Off Florida Coast

Forecasters said that Tropical Storm Claudette had formed off the northern Gulf Coast of Florida and was expected to bring heavy rain to the area.

MIAMI, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Tropical Storm Claudette approached the Florida Panhandle Sunday night with sustained winds near 50 mph, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.

Claudette batters Texas with wind, rain

PORT O'CONNOR, Texas, July 15 (UPI) -- Hurricane Claudette has been downgraded to a tropical storm as it weakens and pushes deeper into South Texas. The storm system is now about 40 miles west, southwest of Victoria, still packing winds of nearly 70 mph.
