Texas Tech fires coach after player's accusations

Texas Tech football coach Mike Leach was fired two days after the school suspended him while it probed allegations that he mistreated an injured player, SI.com reports.

Report: Vials of bubonic plague missing

LUBBOCK, Texas, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Samples of bubonic plague are missing from the Texas Tech University Health Services Center, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reported Wednesday. Texas Tech officials could not be reached for comment on the report made to Texas Tech police Tuesday night.
