Usually the most genteel of institutions the Royal Geographical Society is immersed in a row that has turned nasty. Sir Christopher Ondaatje who is one of its biggest benefactors has accused adventurers such as Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Col John BlashfordSnell of being jealous "boy scouts".
