Sean Gallagher to head L.A. Times online newsroom operations

The former managing editor of latimes.com replaces Meredith Artley. He will continue to supervise the website in his new role. The Los Angeles Times has named Sean Gallagher to run its online newsroom operations and oversee the Los Angeles Times Media Group's growing portfolio of digital properties.

Chicago Tribune to cut newsroom 20 percent

CHICAGO, April 13 (UPI) -- The Chicago Tribune plans to cut an additional 20 percent of its newsroom staff to help reduce costs amid declining revenues, the newspaper said.
