Maine Voters Reject Gay-Marriage Referendum

Voters in Maine have repealed a state law that would have allowed same-sex couples to wed. Gay marriage has now lost in all 31 states in which it has been put to a popular vote. Susan Sharon reports for Maine Public Radio.

SALEM, Ore., Jan. 29 (UPI) -- A referendum that would have raised taxes for three years has reportedly been rejected by Oregon voters, with about 56 percent opposing it. The hike would have raised about $725 million and averted police, education and social services cuts.
