Former military contractor gets probation in killing of handcuffed man in Afghanistan

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — A former military contractor avoided jail Friday for the revenge killing of a handcuffed Afghan detainee who had doused one of the contractor's colleagues with gasoline and set her on fire.

NEW ORLEANS, May 6 (UPI) -- Defense attorneys are seeking probation for a former Army Ranger who pleaded guilty to killing a man while serving as a private contractor in Afghanistan.
