NEW YORK, July 13 (UPI) -- "American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino's work on New York's Broadway must be fantastic -- she just extended her run in "The Color Purple."

NEW YORK, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- TV talk host Oprah Winfrey is producing the Broadway musical adapted from the Alice Walker novel, "The Color Purple."

ATLANTA, March 5 (UPI) -- The Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Ga., has announced it will open its 2004-2005 season with the world premiere of "The Color Purple."
